About Us
“Insieme a Chicago” is an Italian cultural program for children! “Insieme” is Italian for “together” and as the name implies “Insieme a Chicago” gathers Italians, Italian speakers and Italianophiles “together”, in a space specifically designed for their little ones! Children will enjoy playing age appropriate games, singing songs and lullabies, listening to storytelling and participating in fun activities with their peers in a 100% Italian environment enriched with authentic Italian materials. The program focus is to immerse our children in an Italian school setting, so to expose them to both the Language and the Culture!
Our “Insieme” children are divided into the following age-based groups:
IL NIDO (11 months-3 years old)
This program introduces a repertoire of some of the most popular Italian children songs, lullabies and nursery rhymes together with an exposure to basic learning topics and goals.
IL VOLO (3-5 years old) LEVEL 1
This program is an effort to replicate a typical day at an Italian Preschool through age appropriate games, songs, movement, Italian books, art projects, rhymes and other creative activities. It is designed for beginner students or students who have a limited exposure to the language at home.
IL VOLO (3-5 years old) LEVEL 2
This program is an effort to replicate a typical day at an Italian Preschool through age appropriate games, songs, movement, Italian books, art projects, rhymes and other creative activities. It is designed for intermediate students or students who have a very good comprehension of the language, who need to work on their speaking skills.
IL VOLO (3-5 years old) LEVEL 3 BILINGUAL
This program is designed for native, native-like speakers and fluent students. Our goal is to bring components of the Italian Preschool Curriculum and Objectives to our classroom, in order for our bilingual students to experience an Italian “asilo”.
IL VOLO for KINDERGARTENERS (5-6 years old)
This is a program for students who are attending kindergarten this Fall. In addition to following our Italian Preschool Curriculum, we will introduce elements of reading and writing.
IL VIAGGIO (6-10 years old) MIXED LEVEL
This program is meant to be a imaginary trip through Italy and an effort to review conversational skills and to introduce reading and writing in Italian.
IL VIAGGIO (6-10 years old) BILINGUAL
This program is designed for native, native-like speakers and fluent students. Our goal is to help our students improve their reading and writing skills and to introduce core subjects as they are taught at an actual Italian elementary school.
L’AVVENTURA (10-14 years old)
This program is “an adventure” into the world of our ten to fourteen years old students who like to compete, use technology, drawing, reading and writing and learning fun facts about the Italian History, Art and Geography. Students are encouraged to practice the Italian Language while learning more about Italy and its Culture.
